Arsenal's Nacho Monreal expects Hector Bellerin to stay despite Barcelona transfer interest

The Spain global has emerged as a target for the Catalan side in the summer transfer window after a disappointing season for both Bellerin and Arsenal last term.

Suarez, who re-joined Barcelona last summer after an impressive year at Villarreal, has now revealed that Bellerin has also considered returning to Catalonia, but his loyalties to Arsenal remain strong.

And Monreal is confident the north London club can keep hold of his Spanish compatriot this summer.

He told Mundo Deportivo: "I have spoken with Bellerin and on the one hand he wants to come to Barca and on the other he feels tied to the Arsenal".

However it is understood to be unlikely that Bellerin would force his way out of Arsenal even though he has previously spoken about missing his family since they returned to Spain.

"Hector is a very important player for us and the boss [Wenger] has already reiterated that he counts on him".

Bellerin is contracted to Arsenal until 2022 having penned a new deal in November.

"Now they will have to negotiate between the clubs and we will see what happens but nearly for sure he will continue with us".

"Barca are looking for a player in that position and, after his performance for Arsenal, it's logical Barca would look at him. I don't know what's going to happen but I hope he comes here because he's a friend of mine".

"I have read lots of things about this supposed interest from Barcelona but it has been a long time since the club last called me".
