Kevin Durant Just Wants To Focus On Game 5

After it had looked like the Warriors were going to sweep the Cavaliers easily, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant's team finally shutdown LeBron James and co. on Monday night in a thrilling Game 5.

A lot was said before these Finals about the non-competitiveness of the National Basketball Association playoffs - the Warriors became the first team in history to start the playoffs 15-0 and sport a point differential of 13.8 points, while the Cavaliers lost just once before the Finals.

The Golden State Warriors have defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers to become the 2017 NBA Champions.

Golden State whiffed at its chance to pop champagne in Cleveland's visiting locker room for the second time in three seasons - something the Warriors openly discussed as a goal: celebrating at The Q. Warriors vs Cavs live streaming, 2017 NBA Finals live streaming and NBA Finals Game 2 live streaming info follows.

James scored a game-high 41 points, pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds and tossed out 8 assists in 47 minutes of play.

It was the first defeat Golden State have tasted in the NBA Playoffs this year after going 12-0 before the Finals.

The Cavs fall to 1-2 in their three Finals series against the Warriors and James sees his overall finals record fall to 3-5. A 38-point second quarter gave the Warriors a 71-point first half.

James has 16 points, Kyrie Irving has 12 and Tristan Thompson has eight for the Cavs. Then it was Golden State's time again, with Durant as the prized addition. Now Kevin Durant, Steph Curry and the Warriors have found the range. Then J.R. Smith, he's a streaky player so he hit his first one.

The Warriors team is one of the best squads of all time, winning 73 games a year ago, and having both of the last two NBA MVPs.

Much of the work guarding the Warriors' "Splash Brothers" will fall to Cavs guard Kyrie Irving. It seems unlikely that both things will happen again Monday, let alone three games in a row. They shook off early foul trouble to play lockdown defense that fed an extended 28-4 run to build a 61-45 lead and send the Oracle Arena crowd into spasms of joy.

In the third quarter, the Cavaliers really showed their resilience.

Irving played just one game before injuring his knee in the first Finals meeting between these teams in 2015. Collecting a missed three-pointer by the Cavaliers' Kyle Korver, Durant dribbled into Cleveland territory before launching his own three-pointer over James' outstretched hand.

"Our mindset has to be winning games and not smiling back and forth or talking and playing", Lue said.

But Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue isn't going to buy into a nothing-to-lose mentality. "It's tough to get back and get matched, especially with their speed".
