The first iPhone 5 went on sale almost five years ago and was the last Apple smartphone to be overseen by Steve Jobs.
The new version of Apple's iOS, iOS 11, will not work on older iPhones including the iPhone 5 and 5C (although it will work on iPhone 5S).
Having said that, the company also stopped this update for a slew of devices including iPhone 5, iPad 4th generation and 2013's iPhone 5C.
While the phone will still work (and it's a little bit fantastic that it still does), users won't be able to download the latest apps or security upgrades to protect against hackers and vulnerabilities.
Apple makes phone use safer while driving
Not everything is going to be this great after the release of Apple's mobile operating system. iOS, rather all Apple products in general, is supposed to give a seamless experience with minimal efforts on the part of the user.
Apple Pay is also managed via Siri, which is just one out of Siri's many new and improved features and perks. Using the cameras, processors and motion sensors built into iOS devices, "ARKit allows developers to tap into the latest computer vision technologies to build detailed and compelling virtual content on top of real-world scenes for interactive gaming, immersive shopping experiences, industrial design and more".
Siri will get a "more human voice" in iOS 11, and Maps will have new cities, better navigation, speed limits, and lane guidance. However, millions of users around still use these devices around.
Apple has announced that from January 2018, all new applications submitted to the Mac App Store must be 64-bit.
