Scooby-Doo Is Joining The Supernatural Universe - Yes, Really

Share

Even though it's been on for about 90 seasons, The CW's Supernatural still wasn't allowed to take part in the network's four-show "Invasion!" crossover event a year ago.

Not much is known about the episode itself, but an image from the episode of Sam and Dean Winchester with Scooby Doo was shown to those in attendance and quickly spread online. Most live-action shows, even very popular ones, don't run almost that long. Now, Sam and Dean find themselves facing a creature of nearly unimaginable power... one that could save the world... or destroy it. Without knowing about his demise, an animated episode is EXACTLY the sort of thing we'd expect him to do. Are any other members of Mystery Inc. showing up? There's no logical end point in sight, since every week features Dean and Sam battling apocalyptic conditions, selling their souls, getting their souls back, or killing countless demons all in the name of the "family business". The episode airs on May 18, 2017.

From the sound of it, Sam and Dean are going to team up with Scooby-Doo himself, and we may also have more animated Supernatural characters along for the ride. There have been episodes where they find out they are the subject of a not very popular book series, travel through various spoof TV shows, a musical episode, even one where they go to the "real world" and meet the actors playing them on the show.

Supernatural's 13th season will air Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW this fall.
