3 reasons the heavily-favored Cavaliers shouldn't overlook the Celtics

Olynyk produced a superb display of shooting from distance as Boston pulled clear of the Wizards in the late stages of the game to take the series 4-3 and set up a Conference final clash with Cleveland.

And while Kelly Olynyk certainly stole the show with a playoff career-high 26 points, it was Thomas who found that always-tough balance of being a big-time scorer while also getting his teammates great looks.

Rookie Jaylen Brown had a stellar Game 7 as well, and if he can continue to bring his athleticism and energy to the Eastern Conference Finals, the Celtics won't necessarily need him to score - he can impact the game in a variety of different ways.

Off the bench Monday night came this 7-footer, with his long hair tucked into a bunh, who had scored a total of 26 points during his three previous games combined.

Olynyk, appearing on TNT after the game, said he got a call from his coach in the morning, telling him he had to be his "best when your best is needed".

Olynyk described the series win as a "a team effort".

The home team won each game and because the Celtics, as the No. 1 seed, had home-court advantage that proved to be the difference. Both teams played hard, we outlasted them there.

"It was unbelievable", Olynyk said.

The Cavs and the tire company, founded and headquartered in Akron, Ohio, announced the partnership at Quicken Loans Arena, home of the defending National Basketball Association champions.

The defending champion Cavaliers won three of the four meetings between the teams in the regular season, including a dominant victory in early April with the Cavs back at full strength after some early season injuries. "But we kept going and stayed the course".

Celtics coach Brad Stevens said his team faced a daunting challenge, stating the Cavaliers have raised their game in the postseason. Now it's time to see if they belong. The Wizards got it down to 101-97 with 6:10 to play because of Beal's four-point play, but they couldn't get stops.

The defeat marked another frustrating end for Washington.

The most he ever scored was 12 points in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers back in 2015.

Washington guard John Wall had 18 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds, but he shot just 8 of 23 from the floor, 1 of 8 from 3-point range. "We really believe that".

"[Thomas] was terrific [in Game 7]". But you can be sure, the Celtics will compete - it's who they are.

The Wizards led 70-64 with six-and-a-half minutes left in the third and never trailed the C's in that frame until Thomas drilled a pull-up triple to put Boston up 82-79. After a sloppy first half, Thomas delivered a huge second half: 17 points, six assists, zero turnovers, 6-for-12 shooting, 3-for-3 from deep. If the Wizards were clearly better, however, they would've created more sepearation when they led 70-64 in the third quarter only to succumb to a 22-5 run that put it away at TD Garden. He was an efficient 10-of-14 from the floor, while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists, putting together easily the best game of his career.

Thomas led the post-match plaudits. I definitely did my studying and I knew it was going to be a big-time game tonight. "He did it all".
