Each year, Samsung launches a more rugged version of its flagship smartphone to cater to those looking for a more durable device. It did not give out details on pricing or launch date for the two devices. The strong initial demand for the S8 seems to show people have not been put off the brand by the fact that some Galaxy Note 7 batteries exploded or burst into flames.

Samsung is now working on the rugged version of its flagship smartphone, which carries the model number SM-G892A and has been codenamed Cruise.

LG has been penetrating the global market with their flagship phones every year, plus in 2017 they unveiled the LG G6, which has impressed numerous smartphone fans by far.

In US, Samsung's own site is throwing mouth-watering discounts right now, until device remains on pre-order, till April 21.

The reports come from "sources close to Samsung" via thebell.co.kr, and reveal that Galaxy S9 display panel samples could be ready as early as mid-April 2017. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is also headed to the same network provider as well, and is likely to be unveiled in June, a time frame when the Active lineup gets its refresh every year.

Samsung said Thursday that preorders for its new S8 phone had surpassed the preorders for its prior model, the S7.

The device is expected to feature a massive 6.4-inch Super AMOLED with a near bezel-less look, thanks to Samsung's new "Infinity Display" technology. "Bixby Voice will be available in the US on the Galaxy S8 later this spring". This should include a higher water and dust resistance, a shockproof case and a tougher build overall. While the camera hardware of the Galaxy S8 is largely similar to the Galaxy S7, Samsung has tweaked the image processing to deliver slightly superior results.

With a portable dock, monitor, keyboard and mouse, users can pop the Galaxy S8 to a computer monitor and work with Microsoft documents or apps. Recently, Samsung has slashed the prices of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in India, and they are now retailing for Rs. 5000 less than the original price.
