"Subsequent investigation revealed that Cummins had no scheduled interview", the complaint said.

Cummins surrendered to police on Thursday near a remote cabin in Cecilville, California.

Authorities say the girl is apparently healthy and unharmed.

Investigators also found that days before kidnapping Thomas, Cummins had refilled his prescription for Cialis, a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction, and Cummins bought women's razors and KY Jelly from that Walmart in Oklahoma days after the kidnapping. Snow was still on the ground in some places.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation tweeted Thursday that teacher Tad Cummins had been taken into custody.

April 7, 2017: TBI Director Mark Gwyn said he remains optimistic that Thomas and her former teacher will be found. If convicted of the federal charge, he faces at least 10 years in prison, acting U.S. Attorney Jack Smith said. Columbia is about 45 miles (70 kilometers) south of Nashville.

Cummins had been suspended from teaching at the Culleoka Unit School, where Thomas attends, in February after disobeying an order barring Thomas from his classroom following an incident the month before where a student reported seeing the two kissing.

Jill Cummins, who has publicly pleaded with her husband, Tad Cummins, to bring the Columbia, Tenn. girl home, filed the documents in Maury County Chancery Court Friday citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct. The school system said the community can now begin healing.

The girl's father, Anthony Thomas, had told NBC News that he believed Cummins was grooming the children in his class - telling them lies including that he had previously worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Central Intelligence Agency. The teacher, however, acknowledged that the girl was "a really good friend and she does leave her other classes to come see him when she needs someone to calm her down", according to a school report dated January 30.

The teacher would later be reprimanded February 3 by school principal Penny Love after the girl was seen in Cummins' classroom for a little more than half an hour that day.
