Kerala: Easter celebrated in state with religious fervour


Marking the end of the Holy Week in Christianity, Easter Sunday is celebrated after mass prayers by the handing out of Easter eggs.

He therefore called on Christian faithful to use the period to rededicate themselves to God and reflect on the significance of Easter, which is the bedrock of the Christian faith.

"I want to highlight the enormous and devout work of the Russian Orthodox Church and representatives of other Christian denominations in solving important social problems, strengthening the family, educating young people and harmonising inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations", Putin said.

"It is the celebration and glorification of the greatest miracle the Earth has ever seen, the resurrection of the Son of God, which marks the redemption and renewal of life for the human race".

Several families will also be participating in the Easter march from Bishop's college at 3pm on Sunday.
