Jose Mourinho urges Anthony Martial to start delivering for Manchester United

Jose Mourinho believes Wayne Rooney could prove to be a useful player for Manchester United in their pursuit of Europa League glory.

"I was not disappointed with Zlatan, I was disappointed with the team", Mourinho said at his prematch news conference ahead of Thursday's second leg against Anderlecht.

"The same way I know what the players like, I think the players also know what I like".

"He hadn't scored since September, some players don't understand what I want but Marcus I trust".

"I don't want to go in that direction", the manager replied.

Jose Mourinho's side couldn't get that all-important second goal in normal time, but the victor would eventually in the second period of injury time via a superb strike from Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes advancing to the Europa League final would be the flawless conclusion to the club's hard season. We played amazingly well, it was a great result and a good feeling for everyone, but now we play a crucial match. Do I think he can play successfully for me? Yes. You can't leave him alone for a single second, you can't give him too much space to operate.

Twice asked if Mkhitaryan was fulfilling his full potential, on both occasions Mourinho said: "In the Europa League, yes".

If Ibrahimovic does indeed miss the next few matches as it appears he will, Mourinho will need Rashford to get the goals to secure Champions League football next season, be that via the Premier League or the Europa League.

"I think it would be the flawless final for us", he added.

Rojo's injury deprives United of another centre-back at a time when Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are already sidelined. Nonetheless, he is also probably entitled to think his team could have made life easier for themselves.

Martial has only started one of United's last eight games and was even dropped from the Red Devils' squad for their 2-0 win against Chelsea on Sunday.

"We did not start well because we did not capitalise on the goal. So, hopefully his answer in the training session is positive".

Sergio Romero admits that he could not turn down the chance to join Manchester United, even it meant being number two goalkeeper to David de Gea.

United have had the same problem converting draws into wins in the league, drawing 12 matches this season.

Manchester United have won all their home games in this season's Europa League and are confident of getting the job done against Anderlecht tonight at Old Trafford.

"With his experience and know-how of this knock-out phase, he is a player who can be useful".
