According to Steimke's Facebook page, he said he saw a big rig carrying a red Nissan with the driver still inside.
It went on for a half excruciating mile until finally, the truck driver came to a stop.
When Steimke pulls alongside the vehicles, the driver in the auto being dragged unrolls the window and is waving at the truck driver to stop.
Miraculously officers with the California Highway Patrol said the driver of the auto is ok.
"What do you mean you didn't know it", Steimke says.More news: Rep. Jason Chaffetz Says He Will Not Seek Re-Election
A California Highway Patrol statement said the truck was driving 30 miles per hour northbound in the truck lane when it began to move into the left lane.
"Why were you driving so far, dude?" he asked.
Comments on the YouTube video display a range of theories from people, many suggesting the truck driver may have known.
Thankfully the driver of the vehicle managed to avoid serious injury.
In his Facebook post, Steimke said the truck dragged the auto for "at least 4 miles", but the CHP later estimated the distance to be about seven-tenths of a mile.
