President Trump, First Lady Kick Off White House's Easter Egg Roll

Fulfilling her First Lady duties, Melania welcomed thousands to the White House South Lawn, where she read to children, helped them to colour and of course judged the famous egg rolling competition. As seen in the video, Melania and Barron Trump place their hands on their hearts, while Mr. Trump's hands are at his sides.

Speaking at this year's event, he said: "This is the 139th Easter Egg Roll".

The White House transmitted through Facebook the Trump message to the nation.

The event, largely seen as the most important social event on the White House calendar, came only days after the Trump administration announced they would not publicly disclose their visitor logs - a break in precedent from the Obama years.

President Trump defended his record in office, saying "we are right on track".

The Easter Egg Roll will feature games, costumed characters, storytelling and entertainment from boy band Bro4, the Martin Family Band and military bands.

"We will be stronger and bigger and better as a nation than ever before and we are right on track", the president said from the balcony.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer was spotted with the Easter Bunny, a role he played during an Easter Egg Roll hosted by former President George W. Bush.

The president also thanked Barron for attending the event before inviting the first lady to speak. "The focus this year is on the quality of the children's experience", said a White House spokeswoman. The President who seemed to have forgotten to raise his hand to his heart immediately like Melania Trump and Barron Trump did, was given a quick reminder by the First Lady.
