After launching Prime Videos service in India previous year, Amazon has now announced the launch of its New Fire TV Stick with voice TV remote.

Amazon Fire TV has an advantage of supporting apps like Gaana, Hotstar, Eros Now and other applications, thanks to the forked version of Android it runs. Apart from Sony TVs, Amazon doesn't have Prime Video apps for any smart TVs, and has consciously avoided providing applications to competing devices like Roku and Chromecast.

Created by Rajamouli, Graphic India and Arka Mediaworks, the series' first chapter will be available on Amazon Prime Video with fast follows of remaining episodes in a few weeks. Additionally, the company is offering Rs 499 cashback in Amazon Pay balance to Prime members. Fire TV stick weighs nearly 32g and is powered by Mali 450 GPU.

The Fire TV stick will cost Rs 1,999 for Amazon Prime members and at Rs 3,999 for non-prime members.

The Fire Stick TV plugs directly in to your TV's HDMI port just like the Google Chromecast.

It also comes with a Voice Remote controller. "The new set top boxes eliminates the need of owing two devices which is not the case with Amazon Fire Stick as it can not support live TV or linear programming", Pavel Naiya, senior analyst at Counterpoint Research told HT.

Amazon's Fire TV Stick is a rival to Google ChromeCast.

To entice you into buying the Fire TV Stick, Amazon has several limited period offers at launch. Even more exciting, the Fire TV Stick will come with the Alexa-enabled voice activated remote, something that most rumours were unsure about.

Amazon Prime Video has a wide selection of the latest and exclusive movies and TV shows, ad-free across Indian and Hollywood movies, US TV shows, top/popular Indian and global kids' shows, award-winning original shows, along with content from top Bollywood, regional, Indian and worldwide studios. Using the data monitoring feature on Fire TV, customers can select their preferred viewing quality to help manage data use, and configure their Fire TV Stick to alert them before data use exceeds their preset limit. You can also set a PIN to restrict access to mature content (for your kids). For customers in India, voice search on the Fire TV Stick supports both English and Hindi.

It also supports most of the major TV streaming services too.
