139th White House Easter Egg Roll Offers Fun, Games To Kids

First lady Melania Trump gave a shoutout Monday to USA troops as she welcomed visitors to the 139th annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

The White House said in the days leading up to the egg roll that it was expecting a crowd of 21,000, per CNN-sizable, though about 14,000 fewer attendees than the final Obama egg roll hosted in 2016.

There had been some speculation that there wouldn't be an Easter Egg Roll this year, but the Trumps said they were excited to "continue the traditions of the past while weaving new traditions into the fabric of our Nation's history". Unfortunately, the President committed two gaffes, not including the undercover Donnie Darko bunny.

The president also drew attention on social media for another incident Monday after he signed someone's hat but then threw it back into the crowd instead of giving it to the owner.

She stood beside her husband and her son, Barron Trump, to sing the national anthem.

The US President, his First Lady Melania, together with their son, Barron, joined the guests as they rolled the colorful hard-boiled eggs across the lawn of the White House's backyard.

"We're doing the egg roll hanging out and having a good time", said participant Cullen Gullott.

After such a late start in planning that some wondered if it would even happen, the Trump family is managing to pull off their first White House Easter Egg Roll.

Trump also took a moment to recognize his wife for her hard work in making their first Easter in the White House a special one. During the Bush administration he wore the Easter bunny costume at the egg roll.
